beautiful, but not sure if I could do all that starting and stopping and end up with a quilt that lays flat

Thanks for all the likes...the pattern I have is quite vague....I had a friend show me what to do. It has 440 rectangles 3-1/2"x5", but
you can make quilt longer, wider, just need more rectangles. We did an exchange amongst friends, so got a really good variety.

The rectangles are pieced in braids / \ staggered. Rectangle on left is #1 positioned /, then sew #2 with top edge butting against #1 positioned \ and then keep adding rectangles from side to side. The braids are sewn from bottom up with seams sewn partially leaving about 1" open at ends.

I did my braids 22 units on each side(44 rectangles per braid)....and made a total of 10 braids. When assembling rows, they are sewn together from the top down. By having the open seams, it is pretty easy, just kinda putzy to sew the rows together.

Once all the rows are sewn together, then you cut the quilt in half horizontally, and put the straight edges at the outside of the quilt, and sew the two halves together the same way as rows were sewn together. Then the sides are trimmed off straight. Because all edges are bias, I stay stitched the edges.

Hope that helps explain how to make it.

That is very pretty. I think I might have to try that one sometime.
