Karla, I had the same thoughts and did the same thing that you did, all these years I had let intimidation keep me in the ditch! lol! Finally....I came to the conclusion that I might not quilt perfect but I could quilt the best that I was able to and let time take care of the rest. At that point I jumped in and started to stipple! Mine looks very close to yours at this point but the fear is gone!!!! yeah!!!! Not only am I wanting to do and learn more but letting go of that perfection desire has also made it more fun and relaxing! I think you did a great job and have made it past the first hurdle!

Karla, no one told me I could NOT do this, I just jumped right in with both feet, I did placemats and I just went at it like I knew what I was doing. I figured what ever I did was right for me. I know they say not to cross over the stiching but I liked my loops and I made lots of them. After all how often to the quilt police knock on my door and ask to see my placemats.

You did good girl-- You have got me inspired in trying too. I have even called to get my darning foot ordered from my janome dealer.

One question is it best to start in the middle of the quilt or to one side?

Pam--I read that either is fine.

Looks to me like you are doing a great job learning to do this barn. Just keep practicing and telling yourself..it only matters what I think anyway!

I like to do unusual quilting- not what everyone else would do...so love the heart on your bear. I just finished quilting around the wide border on my monkey/balloon quilt..instead of flowers or feathers..I quilted open bananas..it turned out cute.

I am so impressed with your desire to tackle all over quilting!!!! My mind is set that I can't do it---I just get too keyed up even when I vow that I will be relaxed!! I think I will try what you've done - you've been an inspiration!! Thanks for sharing!

Blessings!
