I took a break from my commision quilt to work on a few little things....
SO I finished a norman rockwell wall hanging..I still need to put on binding but I quilted it today. I also quilted a little quilt using "my little pony" and "strawberry shortcake" material....I usually don't use this kind of material but i had these from when my youngest was a toddler and we made her baby blankets..these are the scraps of what is left. I also used leftover scraps from a snowman flannel quilt I made a few months ago and made this raggedy flannel quilt. When I quilt it and then wash it all the edges of those squares will get frayed and look worn and comfy!..thinking I shoud use wool batting. |

Charismah, I really like the flannel quilt & the pattern. Those are appealing to the eye. Have you seen the Gee's Bend quilts by the Southern Alabama African American quilters that are abstracts? I think it was back in 1950s that a priest saw the quilts on the clotheslines around the town where he was walking through & somehow got them noticed by a Northern Museum, if I have my story straight. Your flannel quilt looks similar.

I love your aesthetic- So fresh and contemporary. All the quilts are just terrific. Applause, applause!!
( I am also a Gees Bend fan - I've managed to go to 2 different showings of their work, since I heard about the group.) |
The Strawberry Shortcake and My Little Pony quilt took me down memory lane. I saw fabrics I used for my daughter's playclothes!
You do a wonderful job on your quilts. Thanks for sharing! |
