The ladies at the church where I grew up had a quilting bee once a month to make quilts to give to those who lost their house to a fire or some other need. I have many special memories of sitting around the quilt with them as I was growing up and practicing my quilting skills. So many important topics for ladies were discussed around those quilts and lots of laughter. I think we miss out on special times of connecting with others by not keep up that tradition. I have a number of friends who like to quilt and at least once or twice a year I try to host a quilting bee to keep that tradition alive. Right now we're working on a quilt to donate to an auction that raises funds for relief work.
