teacherbailey 08-11-2010 01:18 PM

My brain is boggled by that back-and-forth looking at the two sides and the need to use the wrong side of the paper as the right side.....and yes, I did take a class once.....so you folks that can PP have my respect and admiration! You really make some beautiful quilts with that technique!

IBQUILTIN 08-11-2010 03:43 PM

Beautiful quilt! And your quilting is also beautiful! Both go very nicely with the toes.

noveltyjunkie 08-11-2010 04:03 PM

You did a great job there. I admire the colours in particular- very good combos - they draw the eye around in a very pleasing way.

ljptexas 08-11-2010 05:19 PM

It is so-o pretty. Great job. I love PP but never tried anything this big but the bigger the pieces, the easier.

Hi neighbor! I was in Hannibal two weeks ago at the quiltshop. I love that place. The quilt is beautiful. Great job.

Momsmurf 08-11-2010 08:02 PM

It reminds me of a diamond in a ring with green lighting radiating off the facets.

My first two quilts were paper pieces, which is why I started quilting...that and the rotary cutter. Actually, my second quilt was the "Log Cabin with a Twist"! I didn't know it was considered hard by more experienced quilters until I was at a Sew and Tell!

DebbieLynn 08-11-2010 08:33 PM

That is so beautiful, I love the colors, and the quilting is wonderful.. No need for a galloping horse!!
I get my toes in a lot of my pics also..LOL

The Hickory Stick is where I got my fabric for the Rocky Road (and help selecting the fabric). Love that place. I like others' opinions when selecting fabric. I had never worked with batiks.

Babs194068 08-12-2010 06:09 AM

wow, that is very pretty

pennyswings 08-14-2010 03:19 PM

I can see why you like the way it came out. I used my magnifier that is Windows 7 so I could see your quilting, I think that came out great too. Aren't we always our own worst critics???

I have a friend who is a professional quilter and I'm not in her category, but I do enjoy it and I don't think I ruined my piece. I really love it. Just looking around my house for the right wall for it. I think the living room.....front and center. Thanks for all the nice comments. You guys really know how to boost my ego.

Annz 08-14-2010 07:02 PM

Wow that is sooooo nice.

pennyswings 08-15-2010 05:03 PM

Lois, keep in mind your friend who is the professional quilter had to start where you did. I personally love to quilt my own quilts and such. I feel then I can honestly say I made the quilt. I am still not where I want to be but practice makes perfect!!

I agree. I'm going to use some of the techniques I practiced on another top that I finished several months ago.

Lois, I know that recently this site was given as a link to see FMQ'ing. I found this site through YouTube and I love some of the stuff she does. The videos are short and she has about 200 different FMQ'ing designs. I thing they are great and they have given me some really great things to use and to practice with and they are all free. Here is the link. If you don't already know about it then ENJOY!
