Yvonne, that's beautiful! I would love to try that, will have to look at my favorite shop for it!
You do such wonderful, beautiful work....how did the applique go? Sharon |
Oh so cute!!!! Is the border material printed or did you "sashiko" that too??
|
Any good sashiko books or sites on line you could recommend?
|
Sharon,
Haven't started the applique. Frozen by the unknown! I just can't make myself start. sigh! Today! I'm going to get it going today! really!!! ShellyQ, This is going to be a little 'stand alone' wall hanging. I have ordered a few more projects to make so I'll be able to hang them together. I just need a wall! Patsy, The border is a batik that I just happened to buy last spring. When I started looking for an appropriate fabric for this project it just leaped out and hollered, "Me! Me! Me!" And it was right! Steve, I've not read any books. I just jumped in and started working on this. Marcella may be able to recommend a book. She's better about researching stuff than I am. And to everyone, Thank you for the sweet words. Most appreciated! Time to go get some applique started! |

http://www.secretsof.com/content/1569 The above sites give you a little history on sashiko. It's basically a form of embroidery using a running stitch. Sylvia Pippen has some gorgeous designs. http://www.sylviapippendesigns.com/patterns.html If you google Sashiko you will find lots and lots of information and many patterns. Have fun! |
