When I showed this as a WIP, someone tagged it as a Shabby Chic Quilt. I wasn't familiar with your USA stores of the name til then. The name stuck. Alas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't think the colours are all that close to true. And it seems my Virgin Fabric pic has gone AWOL. Here it is from when I posted it as a WIP. http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-123058-1.htm I did the border/binding a little differently. Once quilted, the backing was left wider, then wrapped to the front with the lace and flange, to create the borders. A line of stitching on the lace next to the flange holds it all in place. Then I quilted around the edge of the lace to hold in place and complete the quilting. The backing of the quilt is totally done in the virgin fabric. I tried a bunch of shots of the corner, and this is maybe the best of the lot. I'm afraid it really doesn't show you much more than what you already know. Another corner shot ... I'm going to leave it up, not so much for the corner view, rather so you can see the different colours/designs that resulted. of the quilt |

That came out super. Interesting technique with the lace.

I think it is absolutely beautiful.

Very pretty!

That is lovely. I like the idea of using the origional fabric on the back. And the lace makes it look so dainty and feminine. OBW is on my Bucket list--keeping my eye out for the perfect fabric.

Beautiful - the quilt and the staging. ;-)
Can you post a close-up of the border - maybe a corner? I'd like to see the lace a bit better to understand how it was attached - maybe a corner picture with the miter. Thanks. ;-) Ah, I see you did. Let me go look. Well, they were there, and now they're not. Hmmm. |

Ditto on the request for a close up of the lace - sounds like it adds a perfect finishing touch. |
