I work for Hospice and make lap robes for them too. We give a new handcrafted one to each new patient. Some are crocheted or knitted, but most are sewn. We ask our volunteers to make them about 40" x 50" approximately.
Yours are beautiful and I'm sure create warmth and beauty for the patients. |
From a Hospice nurse (me), I thank you. It's a wonderful thing you do for others.

Very pretty. They will be loved by the ones that receive them.

All are beautiful, you have a beautiful heart.

Those 36" x 36" quilts are absolutely the perfect size as lap robes for those in wheelchairs. My mother was purchasing receiving blankets for my wheelchair bound father. I wanted something a bit more masculine and dignified. Plaids and solids, small quilts were perfect. Even made a few out of wool suitings. This was my entree in to the world of quilting. I still make that size and take them over to a local care home.

I donate my quilts also. I hand piece and quilt each one, and some people just can't understand why I do all that work for what they say is "nothing in return". My payment is the blessing that I receive each time I donate. Your quilts are very beautiful. Keep up the good work!

beautiful quilts, and I am sure the blessings you receive from making and donating, is worth so much more than any money you could receive. I also make quilts for kids, and quilts for our local childrens hosp, it is just a way to give back.
