Practice on paper with designs untill you can do them smoothly. Then move on to fabric. I like to use pieces of an old mattress pad. I always do this before I start fmq on a new project!

Those are all so pretty. I love the purple wall hanging. I have the butterfly fabric in the third quilt. They are all wonderful quilts. Thanks for sharing.

I got the pattern from a book by Carol Doark called "50 Fabulous Paer-Pieced Stars." It is the "Ohio Star."
