Also you know there is the legend that Amish and Mennonite women put a mistake in each quilt because only God is perfect therefore it would be prideful to make a perfect quilt. If anybody says anything you could say that's what you did :) |
It's tough to spot. It probably screams at you now but remember it took you forever to see it and that's the way it really is--tough to spot. It's a great quilt!

Creative license at work here! Nice quilt!
yep ;-)
Looks great and just ignore the mistake.
I had to look at the pic twice to find it, and I think it's lovely just the way it is !
Didn't notice! Great job!!
It's called "creative license". You MEANT to do it that way! :)
Well I had to go look at this 3 times & was ready to give uo before I saw the block. It is a beautiful quilt! I like the idea of using the one block as a label area. It si a beauty!
LOL. I think its a great quilt. Adds character and proves its handmade. That's what I always say. ;)
I would do the binding in the red fabric
Yeah, been there... done that...... You smile, laugh, and move on :) It is a beautiful quilt! I would use one of the blues in the block to go around, or the blue that's the border. |
I had to look hard to find it. If I saw this quilt I would look at it and wonder why the quilter did this, thinking it was done on purpose. This ads a bit of mystery to your quilt. :) Tan would look nice for your binding.
Great grandmother said if you make a mistake, its called "a humility quilt" and that is your signature. It shows nobody is perfect except God. It is beautiful
What mistake? I like the fact that your middle block is different adds personaility.
LOOKS GREAT! Wouldn't change a thing!
When I do something like this, I tell everyone that is my signature on the quilt! Makes it personal, I think. Beautiful quilt!
it's a great quilt!
I still havent found the mistake. are you sure it is there--VBG nice color combo
with it being in the center it looks like its on purpose!
that is your "humble" block (like melslove said)
It looks great. Just don't keep telling everyone who looks at the quilt, and no one will know! I always say "It's a design decision!"
Hi there, First, I had to look and look for your "mistake", and when I did find it, I remember someone saying that only God is perfect, and any mistakes that a quilt has, it is a kiss from an angel blessing your quilt. Now, binding color. Depends on what you like....I would stay with the blue.. it extends the border a tiny bit.
Cheers! Deanna in SE Michigan a newbie here...I'll intro myself later today. |
Your kidding me right?..Do you know how long I had to look at it to find this so called mistake?..lol..Don't worry about it! Looks great! happy new year! winks(*

A couple years ago I made a king sized quilt from embroidered blocks of state flowers. They were gorgeous and made by the deceased sister of a dear friend. She did all 50 and I put them together in a checkerboard pattern with a print floral fabric between that picked up the various colors. Had it quilted, wrapped and delivered it and THEN noticed one of the state blocks was sideways! We had a good laugh and decided it would be a conversation starter. you are correct, you just laugh and go on!
Beautiful quilt. I had to study the pic for a minute to even see the error. My grandmother told me that every quilt had to have a mistake. She always made one block that didn't quite match. Usually set it along one side. since yours is the center block, I believe most people will think it was intended design.
I had to look hard to find it!
If it were mine I would do cream. Great Job!!!!
I won't tell. It is still pretty, and who of us is perfect?
I would bind it int he red or the tan.
I love your mistake, it keeps one humble doesn't it. Very nice quilt. Vicky |
Very nice quilt. I had to look hard for a while to find the one that is different. Looks like it belongs. And it does!
Does that not just make it yours. No one will ever have one the same. It is beautiful.
Must not be a good quilter I can't see anything wrong. It's a beautiful quilt and as sthere are no someone once said there are no mistakes there is only character in our quilts!!!!!
I must be blind, I can't see your mistake, it is very beautiful!
It took awhile to figure it out. I love the quilt and would love to have it just the way it turned out
Nice quilt! It makes it one of a kind.Very special.
been there done that, more than once, I would use the darkest color in the quilt for the binding, it is my rule of thumb for me, it acts as a picture frame to keep the eye on the quilt and not wonder off.
We don't all have to march to the beat of the same drummer. Your BEAUTIFUL quilt proves that. I think the "odd" block is kinda quirky and I'm glad you didn't rip out the quilt to fix it.
What a great resolution you have to finish all UFOs before starting more projects. Wonderful! |
I would use red binding on it. Nothing is perfect so let that be your humility block.
Took me quite a while to notice it too. I like the idea of using those white squares for your label. That turns it into planned oops.
