Yes, It is cut in strips not wedges. The pattern is called Ribbon weave and it's in the Bethany Reynolds 10th Anniversary Stack n Whack ipedia.

Because I'm a PP, I'm used to fabric waste but I'm thinking there has to be a lot of fabric waste in this quilt. Yes?

No, hardly any waste at all. You just have to remember the size (length) of the repeat determines how much fabric to get. I will only use a fabric that has a 10-12 " or a 23 " repeat. It"s hard for me to explain without me showing you the actual fabric. Anne
