Thank you all. I admit it had me stumped as to how I was going to quilt it. But, I think it turned out pretty good. I will not be using that kind of fusible again, I can tell you. But I did enjoy the stack and whack.

KimS 04-03-2011 06:02 PM

This is a show stopper! I hope you plan to enter it somewhere! It is truly a winner!

Can you tell me where I can get instructions to do Stack n Whack for that pattern?

So, I just quilted around the fans and then tacked them with embrodiery thread through the center. It made them look kinda like the little tassles that used to hold the old fans together. I use light heat and bond and it seems to me to be softer and more plyable. Love your quilt it is beautful.

Thank you for the welcome. I'm learning so much here and have met a lot of friendly people. Think I'll hang around for awhile.

She is right. There are two types of heat and bond. Heavy duty and light. Using the heaavy can cause your needle to gum up. But they say you don't need to sew around it. I don't know about that part as I have never tried to sew more than a few inches around. the lighter is alot softer and has always worked well for me. Oh, and that quilt IS beautiful, just in case no one has said that! lol

mhansen6 04-04-2011 06:13 AM

That is spectacular. Your fan fabric looks like antique hankies. I just love it.

Welcome, KimS. Yes, you will learn a lot and make awesome friends. And of course you're going to see some great eye candy along the way -- BUT , beware, this place is addicting (in a good way!). Welcome to the family.

Leesa,

What fabric did you use for the S&W/fans?
