Storm At Sea Day 7

Ok so here is our first unit. These are made up of 1, 3 1/2 in square, from our dark fabric, and 4 hsts (made from cutting a 3 inch square in half diagonally.) In this quilt u will need 28 of these units. And here are pictures of the steps. You will see that i pin. I am a big believer in pinning. if it slips, even a smidgen. it can end up making a difference when we are ready to put the units together and make our squares. If the pictures are not clear, then just ask and I will be glad to answer any and all questions. It is the way we learn, by asking. lol and I have done lots and lots of asking and still do.

Angelina, the only piece i use a template for is the diamonds. The rest is rotary cut, which goes a lot faster. And I usually do 4 layers at a time.

thank you. so do I :):) was a little painful when I started cutting them up, and found that the pattern took a yard more than it said to cut the darks. today working on our second unit. There is 52 of it so will take me longer to do. Will post when I get them done.

So now we have moved on to our second set of units. These are made with our darks, 2Tand 2Tr, and one light diamond. Here are the steps to making them. You will need 56 of these. If you want the template for the diamond, just message me and I will email one to you.

Thanks for the progress update. This is fun watching someone's quilt come together piece by piece in real time.

So glad u r tuning in and enjoying the ride. When I started quilting I did not know anyone who did. So it was a lot of trial and error lol and believe u me there were a lot of errors, but Quilting just got under my skin. and before i knew it i was working on one. and another 10 were running around in my head. And I started studying the history of quilting in this country. With none of the tools or machines we have today they made beautiful quilts. I do not see quilting as a craft, but a dying art that is native to our country. Others do weekend patterns lol but i am not happy unless it is a long drawn out process. I guess to each her own. So glad u r enjoying the process. And will help you in any way i can

The pictures are great, and again -- I love your fabrics.
I tried making blocks like your second set of units and when I tried to match them to other units they were all too small. I traced a template, as I remember.

Any idea why? Maybe I didn't print the templates out the right size. Hey, I just thought of that! I bet that's it. It just came to me because I remember when I was doing the 2013 BOTM here the templates would not print out the right size in Chrome but hey did in Internet Explorer.
