Where you see the stripes meeting at right angles -- those are HST's. The whole design is made up of small blocks of HST's that are then arranged to form the pattern. There was a lot of stripe matching, both for the HST's and in several places where the blocks were sewn together and in rows. It was good practice for me.

Mary,

I do not know if the pattern has ever been published. It is simply blocks of HST's arranged as desired. The key is to use fabric with uneven stripes in the first place. I started by cutting 6" squares to make the HST's, but you can use any size.

IQ2 posted the following blog, which shows a group making that quilt, and it should be helpful if you are thinking of making one.
