That is a wonderful gift.
|
How lucky you are , this is beautiful wonder what the pattern is called? Sort of looks like the snow ball pattern. Thanks for sharing

What a wonderful gift! Just a thought - you might want to make additional labels so each quilt he is passing on will have his mom's info.
|
These histories are so wonderful when we can keep them alive for future generations.

I love your quilt and I have an old one also that was given to me but I had to do some repairs on mine. It is a string version of the Steeplechase block in a snowball setting. It is also known by other names but that is the most common name for it. What a wonderful gift to be treasured. |
I am sure he is glad to give it to someone who appreciates it. You have a family heirloom. Congratulations!
|
What an absolutely gorgeous treasure! Lucky you!

GOD BLESS HIM AND HIS MOM....and of course....YOU. Beautiful. What a blessing!

Today my BIL gave me a treasured gift. He is 84,widowed,no children. He wanted me to have a quilt his mother made. She was born in 1888 and passed in 1968. It is in perfect condition. Maybe a little yellow -but what does that matter - I can assure you that at my picture is very inferior. The colors are beautiful. He knew I would care for it. He actually gave me two. One needs repairs where piecing threads have broken. I promised I would fix it and return to him. We have several family members that would love the quilts!! He had several --two sun bonnet Sues made by his mother and one other rag quilt as he called it. All are almost perfect. I would have loved them but he gave me the one he liked best. I did tell him I would add a small label with his mothers name and dates so she would not be forgotten by nieces and nephews. He was happy for that!!! I just had to share!!:o
