What a wonderful treasure! I know you are thrilled to have it and you will do a wonderful job I am sure. Your Grandmother would have been thrilled to know her granddaughter has it and will finish it.

Beautiful quilt and well worth finishing. Grandma would be proud.

Grandma quilts are wonderful. I still have some of my Grandmothers blocks and pieces, to drag out and ponder over now and then, I finished some but not others, I like the ones that still small like her the best.

Oh this much mean so very much to you, quite a sentimental quilt and it is lovely. Take joy in finishing it, thinking of your grandmother and how much it would have meant to her to know that it is now in your hands.

What a beautiful, wonderful find!

What a joy to have it!!! You are not bound by her plans, but check on the batting. Some of the older stuff needs stitches every 1/2". (someone gave me a roll of that. It shreds if you even look at it.) Ask an expert on this. If that's what you've got, it might be good to re-sanwich with a modern batting.

She sure did lovely work, the stiching is out of the book! You are fortunate to get it . Good luck with finishing it . What a priviledge to follow in her footsteps!

I agree with Tartan. Practice on a dummy block at first and then do that every day until your fingers remember how to do it. It will be lovely and don't worry about perfection. Having it and using it with pride is what counts. Also, as a beginning hand quilter, strive for even stitches, not small. Small stitches will come with time.

Thanks for the great tips everyone! I'll definitely check over the pins and take a closer look at the batting.
