I think your quilt is beautiful, and the 5" border looks fine to me. It will be pretty no matter which way you go with it, but personally, I wouldn't change it

It's a wonderful quilt. I prefer your sized border rather than skinny and would bind with the darker red fabric to tie it in.

That is one fine quilt. I'd make the border a little narrower and add a third border to match the first. Just one of my rituals. I like the way that looks, but if you don't then what you have is fine. I would though use the dark fabric as the binding.
For those who asked, I believe a pattern is available. It is called "thinking outside the box" however, since you simply used the same block over and over, it is pretty easy to look at a picture and figure the quilt out. |
I agree with Helen, leave the border as is and use a darker fabric to bind.

Love it just the way it is, but would use a darker fabric (maybe the sashing fabric) for binding to finish off the quilt. They will love the quilt! Modern enough for the younger folks...
