Never used a panel or done an attic window! New things excite me & this one is beautiful! Thanks so much for posting this! So many ideas floating around in this brain!

littlebitoheaven 09-01-2012 06:25 AM

I have not tried this. It is a great wall hanging. Love it.

moreland 09-01-2012 06:29 AM

Very good--I did these for Christmas for my kids a few years ago. They really make a great wall hanging! Yours is delightful.

One word of caution to someone trying this for the first time--be sure to label your blocks carefully--once they get separated, it is very easy to get them turned wrong and sometimes quite difficult to get the puzzle put back together correctly. This is one of the few times I label every one of the blocks individually.

I like very much. Perfect setting! :)

I love the way this turned out, it looks like you really are looking out a window at some beautiful landscaping. Very inspiring.

sewhat540 09-02-2012 03:09 AM

Love it. It looks so real. I would like a house like that and the view would be something else. In this case, it would be nice to be on the other side of this attic window.

sandrabrueggeman 09-02-2012 03:37 AM

That is gorgeous, great job.

tweety2 09-02-2012 03:43 AM

The more I look at your lovely quilt, the more I see. Each window pane a picture in itself, the tans arranged to give the appearance of sun and shadow, the perfect border colors and the luminous quality of the panel itself. Hats off to you.

BuzzinBumble 09-02-2012 05:23 AM

Oh my gosh Char - the way you did the shading in the window sashes and the wood grain adds to the reality - you did masterful work! And you chose a gorgeous panel - I never would have thought of using one like that.

First I'll answer oma: I just love that. I don't know if I've seen the combination before or not, but your woodgrain fabric is perfect! score!

Penni - don't you just love how ppl want something and you go shopping and buy oodles of fabric for them personally, and then they change their minds or paint etc. and their color schemes change?

I have a panel in my sewing room just waiting for attic windows. I am going to start it this afternoon. Will post a picture as soon as I finish it.

captlynhall 09-02-2012 09:53 AM

That's a great idea!. I love Trompe L'oeil and this technique also draws the eyes to look thru the window and beyond.

I think this looks wonderful. What do you think?

The windows are 5 inch squares, the frames are 2 1/2 inches, the sashing in 2 inches , first border is 2 1/2 inches and the outside border is 3 1/2 inches (all measurement are cutting measurement).
It measures 40 1/2 x 43 finished.

Love the idea. I've seen it before, but you did a fantastic job!

gellybean402 09-02-2012 03:59 PM
