A project on hold for quite some time.....
.....that I finally finished yesterday!!!
This duffle bag was planed about 2 years ago for a church friend's daughter and then "life happened", my darling husband's terminal cancer and passing and myself not being too well at times but now I did finish it and am quite pleased with the results. Thanks for looking and you all have a great and blessed week-end!!! <3

Bearisgray, that's the 3rd duffle bag I've been making, each of my grand children have one too and when I started I googled duffle/barell bag and found several patterns/tutorials and I took a bit of everything and ended up with my own idea, which is: I took some quilted mattress protector for the body, larger size is 35" x 20" wide, Zipper 20" and the round sides have about 11,5" in diameter, the outer pocket is a little higher than the round part (see on the picture). For a medium size the body is 32" x 20" or 18", Zipper 20" or 18" and the round sides are about 10,5". The smallest one has a body of 20,5" x 13,5" (14"), Zipper 14", Sides 7,5" diameter. Straps 80 x 3,5"
With the round sides I always cut them a little larger, maybe half an inch and pin them when the main part is ready and usually have to adjust a little, like cutting back 1/4" all around.
The straps for the larger ones are 100" or 120" x 4" or 5".
I first sew the strips onto the body, then add the border on each top side, then sew on the straps (for the larger bags about 4,5" from the sides), for the smaller one adjust yourself what you think is best. Then sew on the zipper, sew the strips onto the round sides, I also put some small tags on each round, on top, to hold when you open or close the zipper and lastly I sew the sides with a seam of about a normal width (meaning NOT 1/4") and then zigzag all around. Good luck!!! Looking forward to see your bag
