Really cute quilt. I Googled free puff quilt pattern & this link came up from Quilters World. I hope it's OK to share the link as it is a free pattern that is available for anyone to download. http://www.quiltersworld.com/pattern...Springtime.pdf

This Puff quilt/bubble blanket/biscuit quilt for babies is ~36" x 36" inches with all cotton top featuring Puddle Jumpers collection from Kathy Brown of The Teacher's Pet. It was inspired by her memories, "... she loved the Dick and Jane series of books that I learned to read from. The simple ginghams, dots, and prints in my collection all reflect that era of dress, but with a bit more modern flair to suit today's quilters and sewers. Also, when my daughter was very young, I would put her in rain boots and give her an umbrella. She loved to jump in as many puddles as she could find, watch the little frogs, and play to her heart's content. The umbrella was so large that it hid most of her face as the umbrellas do in the main print."
What a great story from Kathy Brown! This quilt is just delightful and will make a perfect shower gift for a friend or for your little baby Girl or Boy - or better yet for your grandchild. Each square is like a little pillow and contains Hobbs Poly/Down fiberfill that makes it puffy. Adorable, soft, and comfortable quilts for newborn and older babies. These unique puff quilts are perfect for the crib, stroller, floor; most anywhere! I have devised a way to make these quilts without all of the bulk and frustration!

I have a pattern for a 'bulletin' board made with the puff squares. You sew 3 sides down, then use poly stuffing to fill it before sewing the 4th side; each side has a tiny pleat in it to give it the extra room on top to fill it. I think there is a 1 inch difference between the bottom piece and the top piece. Not hard to make. I made a christmas tree skirt for a neice a couple of years ago; made the same way but with triangles. IF you stuff them too full it is really hard to stitch down that last side and then to put it together so the seams don't show when sewing them to each other.

The one in quilters world is really cute but for a baby quilt I would NOT put buttons on it; a chocking hazzard. I notice the difference in the sizes from the top to bottom piece was 2 inches; you would probably only need the 1 inch difference with no buttons. A zipper foot also helps to sew these together.

That pattern is close but not quite the same technique.......
