Puff quilt
#73
Made a few about 40 years ago also, and stuffed each pocket with a nylon stocking. They weighed a ton. One of my sons loved his, and I was constantly mending it. My quilts these days use W&N batting and are much more comfortable and hold up better.

My first finished quilt was a biscuit quilt. I learned
1) Don't over stuff. Very hard to sew together if you do and also makes it super heavy!!
2) Very warm doesn't even come close. I think I would still sweat under mine in sub zero weather. :)
With all its imperfections I still love it.

I sewed a black suede jacket with biscuits on the fronts and back. Squares were in beige gold tones. Got many compliments when I wore it but it was a little small on me so I gave it away. I had grown.
Researched a lot about biscuits before sewing it and now have a book /patterns that I will not use again. Fun.

I didn't think you needed to add batting & backing. I thought the construction of the puffs finished it. Was that part of your pattern or did you just decide you needed them? I love your quilt though. Must be so cuddly.
