purple and green - wow!
A friend wanted a quilt for her mother's tall old-fashioned double bed with purples, greens, and pansies. When I saw this I knew it was perfect. I usually do zippadeedoodah patterns - turning 12, cheaper by the dozen, yellow brick road - easy peasey, quickly done - so this was a real stretch for me. I still have to quilt and bind it - I cringe at the thought - but at least this much is done.
I have never mitered borders before and the striped borders just seemed to require them. It took at least 6 hours for me to do these silly borders and I'm not sure they will ever even show. Oh well, now I know how to do them!
Fabric: Lovely by Debbie Beaves for RJR Fabrics
Pattern: Plumeria from the May/June 2013 issue of Quiltmaker magazine
Size: 90" square

I know she'll love it - I work with her and have known her for years. When her mother passed away about 6 months ago she used some of the small inheritance she received to have me make a quilt for each of her 3 children. Then she asked me to make one for her and this is what I found. I've sent her pics of each step along the way - cutting, piecing the units, making the first big block, etc. She's in love with it already so I just have to take a deep breath and finish it!
