The blocks finish at 8". For the borders, I did 2 10" borders and 2 5" (I didn't want to make it too big with all 10" )... math... roughly 71.5" x 79.5"

It wasn't too confusing. I have a huge living room floor (as you can see in the picture) and claimed it for a few days. I laid out the quilt, picked up all the middle pieces of the block, sewed them, laid them back out, then attached to the top and bottom of the block, then laid them back out, etc. The big thing that saved me was laying them out every single time, since I have a bad habit of assuming I didn't mix anything up and chaos ensuing :D

I saw this one the other day but I like the OP's pattern better because it actually shows edge pieces.

That is exactly why I redid it! I grew up doing puzzles, love love love them, and it bugged me that the patterns didn't have edges. Especially, since most puzzle officionados (sp.) will tell you, the edges are the most important part. For my next one, I'm going to do irregular pieces, since few of my puzzles had all the nice same piece shape!

See if this helps. Each piece is square, with 1 main color and 2 add'l colors. They then line up next to the matching color.

Within each block, you sew the middle piece to the 2 squares also in the middle, then attach the top and bottom. All the while being careful you don't change the orientation :D
