Default The quilt that almost wasn't!

This is the quilt that I made for my mom's 80th birthday. I had so many issues with this quilt that I wanted to toss it in the corner. Most of the issues I had with it were because of my rookie mistakes. But I perservered, partly because of a poster on this board about just keep on going. So I did. It didn't turn out too bad in spite of me. Most everyone loved it except Mom who just said it was too big for her bed. I expected something negative from her, so it doesn't bother me as much as it would have if I expected her to get all mushy over it. That's just her.
So I managed to get it finished in time for her party even with about 4 weeks of trouble starting with a storm that caused 2 trunks of a huge pine tree to fall on our truck and garage. Our Avalanche was totaled and the roof damaged on the garage- about $4500 worth. 3 days later my MIL was found dead in her home. It was such a shock as we had just talked to her about Easter. She was so excited about coming to our house and being with family. She was buried the following Monday on her 81st birthday. Also during that same week, our water heater failed. And no truck to haul a new one home. But we have great friends who took time out on a Sat. To bring a new one. Anyway all is well now. My DS and DGS came home from Texas for the funeral and stayed a week! And I'm going to be a grandma again in november. God is so good.

Do you have a picture for us? Life sure throws us a curve now and then but we always seem to recover. I'm sure your quilt is beautiful. So sorry to hear mom thought it was too big. But you know, she is 80 and has earned the right to say what she feels. At least that is what my mom tells me. She too is 80.

On my iPad I use a free app called "AutoResize". Works like a charm!

I did it in a crazy way. Emailed them to my Iphone and then took a screen shot that saved them to my pictures so I could upload them. So if they are blurry, that's why.

Your quilt is beautiful! You should be proud of what you have accomplished. Sorry you have had so many issues in the last few months. Hopefully life will treat you better in the months to come.

What a treasure and a beautiful gift. It was worth all the effort.
