Why not? If you haven't entered a contest before, this will give you some experience. While you are not sure if it is ok, a lot of board members feel you should. You could just win. Every contest has judges with different ideas than the last one. Sometimes you have the same idea and you could win. If not, you can get ideas as to what they want out there and next time do it that way.

I think it is abstractly beautiful. I like the colors and the unique pattern. But what do I know, I am a newbie. I do know what I like though.

Green would be a perfect binding. This quilt remindes me of "Earth, Wind, and Fire". Maybe continuous echo quilting around the snake making the lines further apart as you get closer to the edges? This is a fabulous quilt - good luck in the contest!

I see the snake slithering across the middle. I think that whatever you intented it to be, it is an interesting one. It makes the viewer look over the whole thing , which is a very desirable trait. I am sure that it will get lots of attention at the quilt contest. What's there to lose anyway? You really got lots of color and pieces into a very small quilt.
