How about SITD a 1/4" on each side of all the black seams to mirror the triangles and SITD on the coloured ones?
I would use variegated on the black ones if you don't care for the charcoal and a lighter weight thread that would you aren't going to notice on the coloured ones. From experience the black on black is not going to show up very well so if it's important that the quilting show, you may want to take that into consideration. Just depends what look you're after.
