Your machine cover is an awesome piece of art. I'll bet she is so proud to be all dressed up that she will hymn for years to come. Thank you for sharing.

What a great piece you have made, with a practical use yet filled with memories,
to take you on a trip down memory lane each time you sit and sew.
    Beautifully done!

OhCanada ... Would you please show us the magazine page where your inspiration started?
Someone in your Guild had a great idea for a challenge project.

Ditto. It was made even more special when you explained the significance of it thinking of all the talented sewests in your family tree. I love all the dimension in this with the tatting, which is just magnificent BTW, and beads and yoyos (or are those ruched flowers?) And is that a counted cross stitch in this is as well? This is just beautiful and beautifully done!

Thanks. Yes they are yoyos - first time I made them. The counted cross stitch is my handiwork - done on 28 count linen. I wish my grans were still around so that they could see how they inspired me. Mom is still here, I will bring it with me next time I visit to show her.

The page was simply an ad for a Janome sewing machine. I agree that it was a brilliant guild challenge - all of the projects were so varied and it was interesting to hear the thought processes leading to each creation.

That is just adorable. What fun it must be for you to look at it every time you sew.

OhCanada ... You were lucky to score a Janome ad ... and then were able to move on beyond to something pretty spectacular.

With a challenge like that, there would certainly be a broad range of results, to pique interest from the group, while avoiding a direct comparison of what s/he did vs. the others. Well thought and planned by someone! Though I am sure some in the group were truly challenged by this, drawing blanks and then hating every minute of it.
