Default The quilt I never thought I would make

It's so not my style. But my beloved stepson was quite specific. As much as he loved the quilt I made him years ago, it's too short now; he's grown to 6'5". He "ordered" a brown and green quilt with hunting and fishing scenes and a minky backing. So here it is - 70" x 95". The brown and brown/black fabrics remind me of tree bark. The green fabric has pine cones and boughs. The fabric that looks like camo has forest animals on it. I made bear claw blocks for the corners and a few flying geese between the fish. The quilting pattern from Urban Elementz is called Kindling and looks like wood grain. The backing is a luscious cocoa brown. And it was a bear to quilt. (I guess that's in keeping with the woodland theme.) He'll be coming to town early October for a late birthday celebration. I can't wait to give it to him. I think he will love it.

WOW!!! That is amazing, it's definitely a huge quilt for a big boy! He's going to love it and cherish it for a long time.

Your quilt is beautiful. You have made it masculine without it being so dark. You have filled his request wonderfully and he should love it.

You put a lot of thought into this to make sure he got what he wanted. This may not have been your comfort zone but you did beautifully!!

I just made a dragon quilt for my youngest son and backed it with minky. Minky is sure a challenge but it turned out great and he loves it. Yours will too!!
