Use to use vinegar for fabrics , especially red. Still should work I would think. I cound not see any running though and it is so beautiful, she is going to cherish this quilt.

Your Mum will absolutely adore this beautiful quilt! Your choice of color is spectacular!

P.S. Don't know if this will help, but when I pre-wash I put in a spoonful of salt into the water. So far (fingers crossed) nothing has bled.
