Thank you for the lovely comments. It makes me feel much more encouraged after the washing dilemma/drama/trauma... :)
Kimbee – I drafted the pattern myself. It was drafted onto paper, not in EQ (or similar) software package.
Spring – Unfortunately I didn't get it all out, but it is much less noticeable - well to others, not to me. I washed it twice, soaked it over night, washed it 3 times, smeared it with natural unsweetened yoghurt - waited, washed it twice - then put it out to dry.

Feline fanatic - you can see more pictures on my blog. The link is in my signature.
I didn't take too many close-ups of the quilting because I don't think the quilt turned out well after washing. Probably being hard on myself, but I'm really disappointed.
Here are a couple of extra close-up photos that aren't on my blog. Not the best shots. Sorry :(

Mum has promised to look at the quilt with her glasses off. Problem solved. Now why didn't I think of that sooner! :)
Kitsapquilter - I always wash all my quilts before giving them away. My quilts are hand quilted, and take months (literally) to make. By the time they are completed the light fabric tends to look a bit icky. I also want my quilts to smell fresh when received. Also if something goes wrong - as it did with this quilt - then I should be the one to fix it. I would hate for my Mum to worry that she had ruined it.

I would be thrilled to receive this quilt....blotches and all....It is beautiful.. An idea, maybe the shop owener should be given a peak at it before you give it to your Mum....She(owner) needs to see how beautiful your quilt is and what good work you did on it.....see if she has a conscious!
