I agree with quiltsRfun. It needs to be quilted, it will last longer and hold it's shape better. And you have to do Sunbonnet Sam to go with it.

Echo quilt it. How about trucks and cars for the little guy? Or Sam.

I think doing some quilting will help the quilt hold up to many washings. Love the Sues!

Go around Sue, outline, and SID the rest. as for boy's quilts, I have seen some really cute train quilts on this board recently.

Generally, tying a child's quilt is not the best idea. Repeated washings and drying are tough on tied quilts. With all the time, work and love you out into this, why not put in a bit more time and machine quilt it? It will insure that the quilt will be around for many years.

My Great GD's paternal Great GM did a quilt for our GGD using this same pattern. She did a simple straight square pattern over the whole quilt and it is beautiful. The Sunbonnets stand out even though they have been quilted over.

SWEET! Quilt it Once around Sue and tie in the sashing. Once around Sue will keep it stable and tie in the sashing will be fast and on to the next quilt for brother. (OMG, I am so bossy.)

Do some echo outline quilting around Sue, and quilt in the ditch around the blocks.
