i think they are hysterical! come on, folks--these are designed for the hip, artsy kids that are just discovering the joys of handwork and sewing. the skeleton is holding a book that says "quick and easy knitting projects"! i could be that skeleton, with as "easy" as knitting proved for me. i could easily die trying to finish even ONE knitting project! and the crossed knitting needles and open scissors are funny--it's a visual designed to make you smile or laugh; irony! everybody knows that pirates don't knit/sew!
i may have to return to "lurk" mode for my opinion--but i would buy a fat quarter set, or yardage in a heartbeat if i saw this. of course, i have two studio artists in the family, and live in a huge arts center--but if this cutting edge (pun fully intended) stuff hit the streets at "crafty planet", a local young person oriented store, it would be gone in a day.
the fabrics i can't stand are the insipid things that are being set on the shelves that have patterns reworked from the early '60s, with color combos that grate on the eyes. i lived through those design days once. i'm not doing it again. gimme a skeleton in a chair, with a dog with knitting in his jaws any time!
