    No, there really isn't any stain used. Just the color of the old wood sanded smooth [no snags, finished with a clear sealer [like varnish].

    I just love this look as a decorating idea. I have had my eye out for an old wooden ladder for just this thing and I was going to place it at the base of my stair case! I must say, you have great taste! :D
