Wonderful quilt. I backed one of mine with Minky - lessons learned: I needed to have breathing mask on because it will make a fluffy mess while being cut. Had no problem with sewing on it.

I have used Minky and similar products with no problem... personally I didn't notice any huge mess with the cutting, but I use my kitchen counter for cutting and it gets wiped often.
I usually tape my backing to the floor, layer my 100% cotton batting on that, then the cotton top. Smooth and pin about a "fist" width ... I quilt with 100% cotton 40 or 50 wt thread and usually straight lines with my walking foot. Just remember to go at a slow and steady pace, rather than a race because the feed dogs need to move everything along at the same time

That is very pretty. Proves the KISS principle!

That is such a soothing and welcoming quilt. Just lovely. Simple patterns always catch my eye because it's usually all about the fabric. Perfect choice with this.

Very cute quilt! I really like the fabrics you used. It has a fresh feel to it. Good luck with the minky backing. I've never been brave enough to try it.

Thanks for the tips everyone! My silver, textured ‘minky’ has arrived so this weekend I will either have a lovely finished quilt or a disaster haha
