At age 99.5 my father-in-law passed away March 28, 2011. One of my SD's wanted a blanket of his but they were not in very good shape. So I took several of his shirts, added other fabric that related to him (Motyl = butterfly in Ukrainian) and then added a couple fabrics to feminize it a bit. This is the YBR pattern, but I named the quilt Memories of Grampy. I am backing it with the UConn fabric as he graduated from there in 1934. He was an avid UConn, Yankees, and NY Giants fan. My SD works at UConn so it all fits together....

What a great way for him to enjoy shirts that otherwise would have been given away or thrown away.

How very thoughtful of you to make such a wonderful quilt for your SD to remember grampy. God bless you and yours for your loss. Smile a simle of joy when you look back over the years with fond memories and tears of laughter.
