I like the idea of hanging a lining of some type on the window side. In our town I go by a house where they have a double wedding ring quilt hanging with the design side out. It faces west so will get the brunt of the summer sun every day.

We have been doing that for a couple of years now. We just put hooks (single door) on both sides on the casing, and I sewed rings to one end of the quilt and hung it on those. It's easy to just unhook it and fold over a chair when we want it open. There is a lot of cold air behind these quilts that is NOT coming into the room.

I remember a post from someone who lived above the arctic circle and she made quilts for her windows to insulate the house. When half of the year is in the dark or dusk, it was a great solution and a wonderful way to display her work. Don't need that here in Houston! LOL
