LOL!!!! Me, too! In fact, when I make my next quilt (for our bed), I'm thinking of using thicker batting just so I can get more puckers in the quilting. I love the three-dimensional puffy look.

The truth is, hand quilting was much easier and less scary to me. I tried machine quilting, did a straight line the full length of the quilt. Well, straight-ish. Then I did another the full width of the quilt. I HATED how it looked! It was terrible. (I didn't have a walking foot then, so I'm sure that colored my experience.) So I thought I'd try hand-quilting it, slightly intimidated... but it turned out that I really loved it. As long as you're not in a hurry, it's really pleasurable to just take your time and quilt a little bit each evening while you watch TV.

Beautiful job for your first quilt, plus a hand quilted one, that's more than I ever do. Keep up the good work.

I agree that red pipping would look awesome! Maybe you should try your hand at FMQ, I'm pretty sure you're not supposed to go in a straight line for that!

I think you did a Great job. I bet the red piping will really look fabulous. Go for it because how else will you learn. Although you might want to try piping on a sample block.
