Red face Quilted Tote Bag from scrap strips!

I gave this tote bag I made to my mother for Mother's day. The fabrics I used came from a Moda scrap bag that was purchased at the local fabric store. The scrap bag came with strips of all different widths. I did the quilt as you go method to sew the strips to the batting. I then free motioned the bag body.

The photos show the simple assembly I used. The photo with the pins show the fabrics of the bag body and lining fabrics matching right sides together. I sew around all the sides except where the blue tape marks the hole I leave open to turn the fabrics right sides out. ( I do box the 4 corners before pulling the bag right side out). This is the way our guild makes tote bags for our local women's shelter.

What a great visual! I have never done an inside zipper in a tote or purse just pockets. Thanks- think I will challenge myself to putting a zipper inside my next tote.

Pretty bag... I like the inside zippered pocket, too. I'm sure your Mom is going to enjoy using this!
