That's beautiful and so unique. Keep leaving the picture where she can see it and maybe it will grow on her. LOL

You could do the embroidery work and quiltwork and make it into a wallhanging...a wedding cake to last a lifetime. (Don't forget their names and date.)

Agree. Pretty picture, but I'd gag eating all that fondant. Give me butter cream or give me death! (that's how the quote goes, right?)
LucyInTheSky - I too favor butter cream (lol). But, I am not sure that you could reach this type of effect with butter cream.

I love the detail, the appearance and the simplicity of the cake.

That's gorgeous. I'll have to get married again (to the same guy, of course) so I can order one.LOL

Cake decorating is my other hobby besides quilting. I too love that cake, and all cakes that have such a simple elegance. The technique they are using is relatively easy I have a quilting tool and have done it a few time, but you need to roll the fondant out on the thick side to make sure you do not puncture through to the crumb coat. I always tell people that don’t like fondant to just peal it off because I always put a good layer of buttercream underneath. That way you can have you cake and eat it too. I including photos of the last few cakes I did this month. First was my daughter’s confirmation party. The other a friend’s child’s first birthday. The last my son’s birthday. Hope you like!
