Dear lovely ladies, thank you so much for such lovely compliments..........im overwhelmed to be honest. I took the classes with jackie taylor of white cottage country crafts in england, uk. Jackie designed the pattern and she ran weekly classes which every one of us enjoyed so much.
I do love the idea of 1/4, itd and echo..........ive used iron on wadding, do I start in the middle???????
(Im already thinking of my next quilt......another from jackie.)
Thanks again, youve made my day and helped me to forget a few dodgy points......well more thank a few!!!!

Your quilt is gorgeous! I can't believe either it's your first!
About starting in the middle: some teachers tell you to start SID on the sides and work towards the middle. I've never done that, I always start in the middle. But with iron on batting (wadding) it might not make a difference as both front and back are kind of glued to the batting. You have a lot of seams, it depends on the batting if you need more quilting. Echo around the large applique blocks would be lovely too. Echoing isn't that easy though.
Did you ask your teacher if she has any sugestions?

Remember to check the packaging for your wadding - it will tell you how far apart at a maximum your quiting should be. I use Warm and Natural (an all cotton batting) and it says you can quilt up to 8 inches apart. Based on the recommendations of your wadding, you may not have to quilt around each and every block, as in around each individual star, flower pot or maple leaf. Instead you may be able to group them and stitch around a group so that stitching goes straight from top to bottom and across.

Can't offer any advice as to the quilting, but I can tell you that is a gorgeous quilt. The colors are beautiful and all the patterns fit so well together. I can't believe it's your first top. Looking forward to seeing more wonderful work from you.
