    How about stars? Remember the kind we drew when we were kids: start at bottom right, go diagonally to top left, straight across to right again, diagonally down to the left, up to the center top, then down to the starting point. If I knew how to draw it onto this posting, I would do it for you. At any rate, this is a repeatable pattern and you could just start the next star when you get back to the beginning of the first one. They could be wacky stars and end up looking much like snowflakes.

    what about a big snow flake using the common block [or where the sashing strips cross] as the center of the flake
