the batting was called *Create a Craft* polyester quilt batt. I had never seen it before and the package looked quite old ( maybe something she’s had around since the 70’s) it was very thin and seemed like it shredded my thread. It was not soft like polyester batting made today. I didn’t think to ask her where she got it.

wonderful quilting job. sorry it was one of those jobs that you can't wait to finish. I have a small quilt on the frame right now--handwork, only 6 blocks, simple sashing. She wanted dense quilting in background to frame the handwork, simple sashing motif. I supplied the back and bat--but kept shredding thread in certain areas of the backgrounds--finally figured it out that she's probably used cotton sheet for the background and 1/2" seams with sashings. She pressed open the seams--so while doing dense quilting on backgrounds I'm hitting 1/2" of cotton sheet and it's just too tight of a weave. So having to switch back from manual to SR and slowing way down--has to be finished by Friday & I can't wait!
