    I have never figured out why they have to lay on whatever we are working on. Mine has a bed in my sewing room but if there is a quilt hanging off the table or ironing board that is where he is going to lay.
    And his look does say... WHAT???? Why are you looking at me like that??

    Looks to me that your dog is trying to tell you that he/she wants a quilt. Maybe you better sit he/she down and explain how much time is put into making quilts. tee...hee

    Oh Yes, my kitties have done that to me. Then I learned to keep my digital camera near by and snap a quick picture of the layout!

    My little guy does the same thing , if given the chance. So far he hasn't come up with a better design.
