Race for a baby girl

Race for a baby girl
My friends keep having baby girls, and all of the tops I have lying around near-finished are distinctly masculine.
So I raided my scrap collection, and added in some pink and green fat quarters for a jelly roll race variant.
Since it's me working on it, it still came out with a lot of blue.

And a nice warm flannel back:

Nice job. I have the opposite problem. My friends keep having boys! I find little boy quilts so much more difficult. I don't want something really 'baby' so it's more appropriate for them as they get older. Just really tough (for me) to find cute 'boy' fabrics. And the third child is on the way. Waiting to find out gender before I shop (again).

In searching for a "baby girl" quilt that I could make using what I have on hand, I came across this "race" quilt that looks like it may have come from my stash. I, too, am just about out of kids fabrics and/or pinks suitable for a girl. I thought I could find something to do with my turquoise fabrics. I like the idea of using the shorter strips of the FQs which add to the texture of the design. Thanks for the inspiration.
