    Original Post is here http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-96180-1.htm

We're moving right along! Julia has helped me sew a bit, iron, and organize. The blocks are all done & laid out, now to sew them all together! They ended up being 8.5" blocks. We have lots of half-square triangles left so we're going to come up with some sort of pieced border and maybe a matching pillow. I must say, having an eager 10 year old is helping me get this done much quicker than I normally would have!

    Motivation!

Matching fabric for our half square triangles...we made 8 at a time.

Sewing! She learned about seam allowances and helped guide the fabric.

First sight at how to make a pinwheel!

Lots of half squares ready to iron

Making pinwheels (this is what we do with the ping pong table when dad isn't looking! LOL)

She made sure each pinwheel didn't have any repeat fabrics.

Pinwheels all sewn & squared, laying her design out! She's really excited about all this!

It is good that you are letting her help! She is learning and will treasure the quilt all the more for knowing how much work goes into making one. Who knows maybe she will get addicted at a young age! The quilt is going to be great.

ping pong tables are the best! I'm looking for one to keep in our garage for laying out big projects. This quilt is going to be amazing - I love how she made sure she didn't have duplicates (at such a young age).. she will cherish this forever. Great pictures for a memory book too :D
