I "ALWAYS" prewash with Retayne. If a large amount, I do it in the washer. If one or two pieces, I use the bathroom sink. Retayne sets the colors. I would also throw in a Color Catcher if I am washing a whole quilt.....I figure I can't be too sure.
Once I started using batiks, I was hooked. The extra steps needed to set the colors is so accepted in order to use this beautiful fabric. It seldom frays, has body without stiffness and is generally WONDERFUL! Retayne is not cheap, but you only use a small amount with each wash. I got mine at the LQS.

Thank you Sueisallaboutquilts I used the promo code CHARM2 and placed my first order with Connecting Threads. I ordered batiks, 2 baby quilt kits and some thread. I love this hobby, I just wish I had more time. Thanks again everyone for your help.

FYI, CHARM2 didn't work for me while ago, it said it was invalid. Maybe it's only valid for new customers?

I just placed an order and used the code. It worked, took off five and some dollars. Maybe it is certain things you buy? Because I have ordered from them before. I bought some fabric samplers and clearance fabric :D

LOL Eddie, I had to hurry up before you bought more haha
Yes, it does work but I do remember she said it had to be for fabric. But you bought so much fabric!! It's worth a call to customer service, like getting another free yard. YEAH :)
OH- I'm a regular there by the way hee hee
