I just moved my parents out of their house into a smaller place and it was amazing the finds during the move. There is not craft out there she has not tried. So, when I found the shrunken wool sweaters and attempted to pitch them, I got a little hand spanking. Who knew??? I learned alot during the move.....I will show her the picture of your mittens, so she can "Told you so" and we can get started on the mittens!!!
Nice Job!!

Love all your mittens. Mittens keep my hands much wamer than gloves. Like how you used the buttons, too.
My Dh bought me two pair of the sweater mittens over 10 years ago and I still use them. The one is looking a bit tattered, so guess what I will pick up in town today? Will make some nice gifts.

Very nice mittens! And I love that they are recycled sweaters. I like to see anything recycled until it can no longer be made into anything useful. There are too many people who would treasure what some of us regard as useless.

I bought a wool sweater at the thrift store that had a few holes, so I planned to unravel the yarn and use it to knit mittens or scarf. But I found that the front & back were cut and sewn so when I was unraveling I ended up with individual yarns each about a yard long. :-(
So do you cut them out of the sweater and stitch them?
