This is awesome! Is the crossed canoes block tricky to piece? I am primarily an applique quilter, but I would like to do more pieced blocks. I love the crossed canoes pattern, and your rendition is so gorgeous.

    Thank you! :D

Are they tricky? Hm, dunno. I'm not much of a traditional patchwork quilter (although have been a sewer for many years) and have little to no experience piecing blocks. Someone else is probably better equipped to answer this!

I foundation pieced the blocks (with freezer paper), to make sure I'd get all the points and have blocks that are all the same size. It worked well for me! but it takes more time than conventional piecing.

Now I'm intrigued to see the pics through your screen, lol! On my quilt there's no turquoise, only a very bright spring green. Would be interesting to compare... Isn't it funny, the differences in color we get! :D

Duh, just saw this post for the first time!!!

Thank you, glad you like it. The feathers, yes it's you and Katrine whose pictures most inspired me to try them out. Never got the book though. Is it worth it, beyond teaching the basic method?

    LOL thank you.

Maybe I should drape it over my lamp next time I'm sewing at night. Might give better lighting than that dratted IKEA bullb...
Try an Ott-light. Once you try one - you'll wonder why you didn't get one long ago. They really are marvelous.

Love the bright colors and you did a fantastic job on the quilt all the way around, with thinking of it, making it, putting it together and quilting it. Fabulous!!
