    No, not really. On a 10"square, you place a 5" square exactly in the middle and sew it about 1/8" from the edge. (Using pinked edges, it won't ravel.) Then you cut the 10" in half, turn and cut in half again ending up having 5" square with a 2.5" square in the corners. Mix them all (however many blocks you made and cut into 4ths) up and sew them back together with the 2.5" squares all touching in the middle. Perhaps someone else can explain better than I or you could check out the tute on MSQC.
