Greetings from TX-
Because of health reasons I've been unable to post so I thought I'd do a reintro.
I live in West Texas & have 1DH, 1 DD, 2 DSs, & 2DGKs. My DH & I
have been married for nearly 28 yrs.
I've been sewing for nearly all my life. Made doll clothes at age 7 & my own dresses by age 10. I could hand embroidery as well at age 12 as I can now (which isn't half bad).
As far as quilting goes my DGM started hand piecing a quilt when I was 10. I never saw her actually quilt it but I remember seeing her sitting with a cardboard template (from sliced cheese packages) cutting out material. She made several. Later as a graduation gift I received a 9 patch for HS Graduation from her. My mother took an interest in the art of hand quilting (but not piecing) about the time my DD was born. She buys "cheater cloths" & hand quilts a double size quilt each winter. One stitch at a time because she doesn't use a thimble. I helped her sometimes.
MY youngest DS is 17. When he was 9or10 he, my DH & I were in WM & I wanted to look at the Sale fabric when DS saw some Solar System material. DH asked if I could make a lap quilt out of it. I said yes. He still has it in his room. I've been learning ever sense. I make lap quilts mostly. In the last few years I've taken an interest in piecing.
These are pictures of my DGD's quilt.(4yrs old) .
